As we all know, accidents can happen to any person at any time. You may consider yourself to be the safest of all drivers on the road, but the reality is that we share the roads with others, many of whom are not the best of drivers.
A 51-year-old man from Rochester learned this the hard way when a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage traveling on SR 12 crossed the road and collided with the man's vehicle. Four passengers in the Mirage were injured, as well as the man in the other vehicle.
State police claim that the accident was DUI-related, though they have not yet listed nor charged anyone with a crime. Driving under the influence charges are likely pending, however, and can lead to very serious ramifications.
Local and state police understand the potential for serious, catastrophic or even deadly injuries when a person gets behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. In an effort to dissuade people from drunk driving, there are very serious penalties for the crime, including a license revocation, stiff fines, insurance surcharges, and even possible prison time, depending on the severity of the crime.
If you are facing a drunk driving charge, it would be in your best interest to come to court prepared. A strong defense team may make the difference. Considering the long-term or even life-long ramifications that may come from a drunk driving conviction, isn't it worth it to protect yourself, your rights and your future by finding a strong dedicated law firm to fight for you?
